Youth Naturalist Series

Monthly Outdoor Adventures for Ages 6–12

Adventure starts here! Each month, our experienced instructors will take kids off the beaten path to explore hidden trails, discover the wonders of the wild, and master real outdoor skills in a safe, supportive environment.

This year’s focus: carving! Guided by experienced instructors, kids will learn safe knife-handling techniques while working on personal carving projects they can proudly take home. Learning to use a knife is more than just a practical skill—it teaches responsibility, patience, and respect for tools. When children are trusted with real tools and shown how to use them safely, they gain a sense of accomplishment that boosts confidence and independence.

In between carving sessions, they’ll play nature-inspired games, hike through beautiful landscapes, and deepen their connection to the natural world. By the end of the day, they’ll leave with muddy boots, big smiles, and a newfound confidence that will serve them far beyond the trail.

Over the course of the year, kids will complete the following project:

  • Coal Burned Spoons

  • Journey Sticks

  • Magic Wands

  • Gnome Figurines

  • Fishing Handlines

  • And more!
