Adult Naturalist Series - 2025-2026 Class Schedule

Step outside and reconnect with nature, yourself, and your community with Lime Hollow’s Adult Naturalist Series. Our hands-on classes and workshops invite adults to learn, explore, and build lasting bonds through shared experiences in nature. With guidance from our skilled instructors and local experts, you’ll find opportunities to be inspired, challenged, and have fun! Programs are open to ages 13 or older.

Location: 3277 Gracie Rd. Cortland NY 13045 (Lime Hollow Nature Center’s Environmental Education Campus) *

Price: We want to make our programs available to everyone. We will have a sliding scale based one what you can afford. You will typically see multiple prices for the same event. You’ll see General Admission, Generous Admission & Reduced Admission.

General | Regular priced admission to get into the program.

Generous | If you are able, please consider this ticket. By choosing this ticket, you are purchasing your ticket and extra to go to allowing us to offer families the reduced tickets. This contribution also supports our education to the community. Your support goes a long way.

    Reconnect with the wilderness in this beginner-friendly course led by James Michael, an outdoor specialist with over a decade of experience in ancestral living. Students will receive step-by-step guidance in the safe handling of knives, axes, and saws while crafting functional items from sustainably harvested materials. Beyond the tools, you will learn to read the landscape, deepening your connection to nature through the timeless art of bushcraft.


  • Unplug and rediscover the meditative art of whittling in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. Whether you’ve never held a carving knife or just want to brush up on the basics, this class provides a safe and supportive environment to learn the fundamentals of woodcarving.

  • Embark on the path to becoming a certified trapper in this official New York State Trappers Education Course. Led by a veteran trapper with decades of field experience, this intensive session goes beyond the manual to provide real-world insights into furbearer management, ethical practices, and the long-standing heritage of the North American trapline.

  • REGISTRATION OPENS IN JULY!

    Master the essential skill of fire making in this immersive, outdoor-focused workshop. Designed for all skill levels, this class removes the mystery of starting a fire, focusing on reliable methods that work in various conditions while emphasizing environmental stewardship and personal safety. 


  • Step into the hidden world of local wildlife in this beginner-friendly field course. You’ll learn to look past the scenery and start "reading" the earth, discovering the stories left behind by animals, geology, and weather that help shape our ecosystem. This class focuses on sharpening your observation skills and fostering a deeper connection to the natural world.
