Janke and Overhiser are New Board Members; New officers also elected at the organization’s November 2 meeting
The Lime Hollow Center for Environment & Culture (LHCEC) today announced that Rene Crockett Janke and Jim Overhiser have been elected to join the organization’s Board of Directors by unanimous decision. The group also elected its new officers and renewed the terms of others at the meeting, held on November 2, 2006.
Rena Crockett Janke is an associate professor of Biological Science and Coordinator of Adolescence Education for the sciences at SUNY Cortland, where she teaches courses in science-teaching methodology and supervises student teachers who are seeking certification in secondary biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics. She resides in the town of Lapeer.
Jim Overhiser is a physics teacher at Cortland High School and a graduate of the SUNY Cortland Biology Department, where he earned his teaching degree in 1980. His teaching career has spanned 26 years, and in that time he has taught 7th and 8th grade science, earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics -- as well as evening classes at Cortland State. An active member of several community organizations, he is a resident of Cortland.
“We’re very excited to have both Rena and Jim on the board,” says John Hoeschele, who was elected Board President at the same meeting. “Among other contributions, we expect they will add particularly helpful insights into how Lime Hollow’s educational programs and natural resources can best support area college and high-school science teachers, and ultimately, area students”
The November 2nd meeting also resulted in the election of Susan Mayberry as Vice President of the Board; the re-election of John Gustafson as Board Treasurer; the re-election of Linda Riggins as Board Secretary; and Board term extensions for Chris Cirmo and Elizabeth Sharp all of them residents of and active contributors to the Cortland community.
